You can’t go around it. You have to jump in the middle of the muddy puddles of your life. You have to sit in the messes you’ve made. You have to scream at the top of your lungs, for what seems like eternity. It’s the way you get it out, you’ve got to go through it.

There are days when all I can think about is what I CAN’T do. I fall into bed sobbing until exhaustion overtakes me. After I have my ten minute pity party I usually fall asleep, praying I don’t wake up with a fit induced throbbing headache.

Have you been there my friend?

If you’re anything like me, you like to dream. I have the gift of dreaming, it’s a blessing and a curse. I don’t just dream small dreams I dream BIG ONES, and I want them ALL to happen, usually at one time.

I’m pretty sure God has a sense of humor because He has surrounded me with people who listen to my dreams then give me much needed reality checks. They keep me grounded.

Most days I am thankful for these people, somedays I’m NOT, BUT if it wasn’t for them I probably would have combustive into thin air by now. My counselor used to say I was her 5th gear client, always wanting to move at the speed of light, to get to the other side as quickly as possible.

Moving that fast is not advisable, especially when you’re dealing with past trauma or making life altering decisions. It takes time. You have to jump in the middle of the muddy puddles of your life. You have to sit in the messes you’ve made. You have to scream at the top of your lungs, for what seems like eternity. It’s the way you get it out. You can’t go around it, you’ve got to go through it.

Listen up friend. We all like to have a pity party or two, but life is about learning, it’s about growing, moving past the childlike behaviors that worked when we were three. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to stay in preschool all my life. I want to graduate and graduating takes time. It takes hard work, and yes lots of tears but in the end we come out on the other side, stronger and more like our Creator than we could ever have imagined.

We were created in the image of God. We were created to create. God has given us hopes and dreams. I for one, want to fulfill the dreams HE has placed in my heart, not the ones I’ve thrown a fit for. I want the dream I was destined to live. The one that tells HIS story and gives Him glorify.

So go ahead, dream, cry, and dream again. Your good father has engraved you in the palm of his hand and He will be with you through the good and the bad. He is the DREAM giver!
